Extended Explanation
Stand with feet on step that is on the floor.  Put one foot in the middle of the step with knee flexed for balance.  Place the foot that is making the stretch on the edge of the platform, leaning only the toes and leave heel in air.  Lower heel slowly until you feel the tug in your thigh.  Hold this position and change foot.

Basic Muscles Explanation
Calves are located in the posterior part of the leg.  The calf is a two-headed muscle that crosses the knee joints and the ankle. The soleus is wider than the gastrocnemius and is located under it. When the soleus is well developed we can notice its presence at the sides and a bit under the calves. Together, soleus and gastrocnemius are known as calves.

Muscles & Joint Actions
n the ankle extension or heel elevation, feet move away from shins.  In the extensions the heel is under the foot thus elongating the calf and the soleus.

Sport Uses
Calf stretches are vital in races and jumps, their development improves the final thrust needed to push body forward or upward. This includes jumps in volleyball, basketball or springboard.  In races or in march, the ankle extension can generate the necessary force to push body forward at a maximum speed. The most demanding sports  can develope calf definition but will not increase muscular mass.
