Extended Explanation
Standing on the floor with arms hanging alongside body and in a relaxed position.  Start movement by inclining head to the side to the shoulder.  Hold this position for a second, return to start position and repeat movement to the other side.

Basic Muscles Explanation
The high part of the trapezius muscle covers all the superior part of the back in the zone near to the neck. The trapezius is a big diamond shaped muscle that goes from the base of the skull to the lumbar vertebrae and sideways to insert in the scapula. On the other hand,  in the anterior part of the neck we also find the sternocleidomastoid.

Muscles & Joint Actions
Head mobility, which includes moving head to both sides and inclining it to the chest or shoulders, keeping the position, will make neck stretch and gain flexibility in all the area.

Sport Uses
Neck and trapezius stretches ease the movements we make with our head, so it is a neccesary  gesture when we elevate arms above head in different sport activities, like pitching in baseball, and sports where throwing gestures are used.
