I don´t know if you have had the opportunity to try this sport but if you haven´t done it yet, i recommend you!
Surfing was invented by the Polynesians, at least 4000 years ago. It has become a popular sport among both men and women of all ages. With lifestyles and regimens freer than those of most sports, surfers comprise a unique culture. Though surfing is practiced in many other Pacific nations, its mecca remains Hawaii, where many rounds of the international surfing championships are held annually, along with Australia, The US and Northern Europe.

Why is growing this sport?
There are many reasons why a person would want to surf :
The goal of surfing is to get as deep into the barrel of the wave as possible or just get a good long ride. Some people treat a wave as a ramp to do tricks and some simply just ride the waves. The reason why people surf is the feeling or adrenaline rush that comes after riding the face of the wave. You may see people surfing and think it doesn’t look that fun, but until you actually ride down the face of a wave and experience the feeling surfers get you will not know.
Surfing is very addictive and that is the reason why it is growing in population and it is also the reason why someone would surf from age 5 to age 70. Surfing is probably the most peaceful activity a person could do. The water provides a natural peace and the waves are beautiful to watch. Being able to experience the energy of the wave is the best part.
Which are the benefits?
The health benefits of surfing are numerous. Surfing is a great cardiovascular exercise, using mostly upper body muscles to do the paddling work, and leg muscles to guide the board once you’re up and riding. Since surfing involves more time paddling, it provides an intense upper body and core workout.
The best part about surfing for exercise is that it’s so darn fun that by the time you check your watch you’ve already been surfing for two hours, and you don’t want to quit!
The health benefits of surfing don’t only apply to your physical health. There are also the mental benefits. Surf stoke reduces stress, and often gives surfers a more laid back attitude about life which is actually beneficial to their psyche. The high stress of today’s world is detrimental to our mental health. Physical exercise, especially something as fun as surfing, helps to offset the negative effects of stress. It helps you stay young.
Also, i can say when you are doing surf, normally you go in a paradise beach and you can enjoy with the sun, water and sport, an irrestible mix!
I don´t know if i convince you but i tried this summer and i can not wait to repeat!
