Basic Muscles Explanation
The forearms flexors are located in the interior of the frontal face of the forearm. They are formed by a series of small muscles like the flexor carpi radialis that is in the center of the forearm, and the flexor carpi ulnaris that is located at the side of the little finger (pinky). These muscles receive assistance from the longus palmaris, a fine muscle that is located between the flexor carpi radialis and the flexor carpi ulnaris.
Muscles & Joint Actions
In forearm stretches, fingers turn back to try to make palm of hand perpendicullar to forearm.
Sport Uses
Wrist stretches and mobility are crucial in sports that require strenght throws with the wrist, like baseball, rubgy, soccer, javaline trhows and spikes in volleyball. Actions that require hitting like in tennis, handball, javaline throws, and spikes in volleyball, jump shots in basketball, also use the wrist flex. This flexion plays an important role in muscles used when lifting dumbbells, bars or machines. The muscles involved keep hand aligned with forearm and flexes the wrist when necessary.
